Programme Assistant/Driver

We would like to invite applications for a 32‑hour permanent position.

Responsibilities
Lead and deliver programme activities within the community centre, including daily implementation of programme designs and ensuring members are engaged.
Write reports on programme designs and outcomes.
Liaise with community centre staff, members, families, friends and relevant voluntary&statutory agencies.
Support the Service Coordinator in creating and implementing fundraising initiatives.
Encourage members to be actively involved in developmental, personal and activation programmes.
Accompany and support participants on holidays, outings, socials and day trips as required.
Assist with patient moving, handling and personal care as required.
Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to in all activities.
Comply with IWA's Parent and Ancillary Safety Statements and current legislation.
Implement safeguarding practices to protect children and adults from abuse or harm.
Operate clamping, hoisting and lifting equipment safely.
Record and report any hazards, accidents or incidents to the Service Coordinator.
Transport participants to and from the centre and other community activities daily.
Maintain vehicle roadworthiness; arrange maintenance, cleanliness and repairs.
Mentor staff and volunteers in programme activities and transport safety.
Maintain the buses.
Provide flexibility for out‑of‑hours service activities (evenings, weekends).
Carry out any other duties assigned.
Liaison Close liaison is required with community centre staff, members, voluntary and statutory agencies, families and friends of members.
Training, Experience and Qualifications
Full QQI Level 5 in HealthCare Support or equivalent essential.
QQI Major Awards: Community Health Services (including Safety Health at Work and Care Provision Practice); Health Service Skills (including Workplace Statutory Policies Procedures and Care Skills and Support); Health Care Support (including Safety Health at Work and Care Skills and Support).
Full Category B driving licence and willingness to drive IWA buses essential.
Category D driver's licence highly desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience developing and delivering projects or programmes.
Experience working with people with disabilities.
Knowledge of Safety Health and Welfare regulations, transport safety and standards.
