IT Application Analyst (Data Project), Carlow

MCS Group is proud to be supporting a well-established semi-state organisation operating within a large-scale enterprise environment as they seek an experienced Application Analyst to join their ICT team on a fixed-term contract running through to December 2027. This is a high-profile project role supporting the modernisation of a critical national data platform. The successful candidate will act as the lead Application Analyst for a major system redevelopment programme, working closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to deliver a modernised application environment within a fixed regulatory deadline. This position would suit someone with a strong technical background who enjoys combining systems analysis, data management, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery. The role is approximately 70% technical and 30% business analysis focused. (Hybrid - Monday to Wednesday in office - Carlow) Key Responsibilities Lead application analysis activities across a major ICT redevelopment project Work closely with senior stakeholders within the National Farm Survey (NFS) function to gather and define requirements Support the modernisation of legacy systems, data collection processes, and reporting capabilities Analyse existing data structures and assist with SQL Server upgrades and data migration activities Utilise Excel macros and legacy datasets to support data transformation and migration requirements Support the delivery of new reporting capabilities using tools such as Power BI and Tableau Coordinate third-party vendors and implementation partners throughout project delivery Manage testing activities including UAT, security testing, and deployment readiness Ensure successful adoption and rollout of the new platform across the organisation Maintain project documentation and support ongoing project governance activities Requirements 3+ years' experience within Application Analysis, Systems Analysis, Business Systems, or related technical environments Strong SQL Server experience Advanced Excel skills including experience working with macros and complex datasets Experience with reporting and data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar Experience supporting business-critical applications and system implementations Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior business users Experience working with external vendors and third-party suppliers Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities Level 8 qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline Full driving licence Desirable Experience Experience supporting data migration or legacy system replacement projects PRINCE2 or Business Analysis certification Experience working within public sector or regulated environments Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, SharePoint, or enterprise business applications Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies Experience with application testing and deployment activities What's on Offer Opportunity to play a key role in a nationally significant transformation project Fixed-term contract through to December 2027 Public Sector salary scale ranging from€53,740 Defined Benefit Pension Scheme Hybrid working model Excellent work-life balance Strong project ownership and stakeholder exposure Opportunity to work on modernisation, reporting, data, and application transformation initiatives To speak in absolute confidence about this opportunity, pleasesend an up-to-date CV via the link provided or contact Calum Omand, Specialist Recruitment Consultant at MCS Group on .
