Team Leader Role The Team Leader supports and leads the residential care team, working with the Centre Management Team to manage day‑to‑day operations, administer shift rosters, and deliver direct support to young people. They maintain an integral practice role, ensuring high quality care, promoting a positive culture, and managing staff supervision and placement plan objectives. This role includes engaging in daily activities and routines, fostering the development, health and wellbeing of the young people, and addressing care coordination needs. The Team Leader is accountable for the centre in the absence of the Person in Charge, Deputy Manager, or Senior Services Manager.
Essential Criteria
2 years full‑time relevant experience working at social care grade with children/young persons
Full manual driving licence with eligibility to drive in Ireland
Full eligibility and availability to work without restriction
Experience in overseeing staff supervision desirable
Strong knowledge of care practices, protocols and regulatory requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective with diverse individuals and teams
Proficient in documentation and record‑keeping with attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritise workload and work under pressure
Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
Compassionate, empathetic and patient‑oriented approach to care
Flexibility to work 12‑hr&24‑hr shifts, including days/nights and weekends as required
Qualification at Level 7 or 8 in Social Care or one of the following:
QQI Level 8 in Psychology
QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Child&Adolescent Psychotherapy
QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice in Counselling/Psychotherapy
QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Addiction Counselling
QQI Level 7 in Youth and Community or similar
QQI Level 7 in Social Science/Social Studies
QQI Level 7 in Family Support
Professional Qualification in Teaching (Not TEFL)
Professional Qualification in Nursing Studies
QQI Level 7 in Disability Studies
QQI Level 7 in Applied Behavioural Analysis
BA in Applied Policing or equivalent
Holder of Higher Certificate in Custodial Care (Irish Prison Service) or equivalent
No qualification if CORU registered as a Social Care Worker
