Description
Technical Responsibilities
Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for medical devices. Design, develop and evaluate EM tracking systems, including field generators, sensor coils, signal acquisition circuits and positioning electronics. Define and execute test methods for system accuracy validation. Work with cross‑functional teams to integrate EM tracking into system architecture—firmware, software, and mechanical subsystems.Evaluate and mitigate electromagnetic interference (EMI) and environmental distortion effects such as metallic objects and hospital equipment. Develop calibration strategies, test fixtures, and verification methods to ensure tracking accuracy and repeatability. Perform system‑level troubleshooting of EM tracking issues in lab and simulated clinical environments.Apply advanced circuit and electrical system test methods. Conduct or design prototyping and bench testing. Conduct problem solving, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against component and system requirements. Conduct research and studies to support product design. Translate design inputs to engineering specifications and produce component and subsystem level designs.Business Responsibilities
Demonstrate advanced understanding of customer needs and design inputs. Demonstrate proficiency with product’s intended use and clinical procedures. Learn how the financial models are constructed. Med Device Compliance
Follow industry standards, design requirements and test strategies applicable to regulatory requirements. Create or refine engineering documentation, such as Design History file. Follow R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System. Apply EMC/EMI standards (e.g., IEC 60601-1-2) to ensure compliance of EM-based systems. General Responsibilities
Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success. Quickly process and assimilate procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required. Work on complex problems, applying advanced experience and learnings. Demonstrate ownership and prioritize work with minimal supervision.Build relationships and influence among peers. Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline&2+ years of work experience. Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired)
Technical skills: Working knowledge of electrical design process, electrical components, and manufacturing methods. Strong understanding of electromagnetic field theory and its application to sensing and tracking systems. Ability to interpret, analyze, and test electrical designs. Proficiency with design and concept generation CAD, CAE, or simulation tools.Ability to apply analysis tools and statistical methods. Knowledge of system components and associated requirements. Understanding of the system lifecycle and effects of design choices on the system. Experience with simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS HFSS, MATLAB). Travel
10% travel expected. Work Flexibility
Remote– Role allows you to work the majority to 100% of time from an alternate workplace. Field-based – Regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities, with a set territory and expected travel within a set boundary. Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility; some ad hocflexibility may be available.Hybrid– Work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility; the expectation to be onsite is defined by your manager/supervisor.
