UisceÉireann is Ireland’s national regulated water utility, dedicated to delivering safe and sustainable water services.
The Role The Wastewater Network Operator is responsible for supporting the operation of the wastewater network to deliver consistent customer service and carry out routine maintenance activities, including surveys, investigations, interventions, and responding to alarms.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Support operation of the wastewater network: assist with sewer surveys, identify infiltration, investigate and implement interventions, clear blockages, and respond to alarms.
Regularly check chemical dosing measures at pumping stations and support compliance and sampling teams.
Inform customers about issues and resolutions, investigate escalated complaints.
Record and report relevant information using technology systems, including investigations, work orders, and safety records.
Adhere to health and safety procedures, conduct risk assessments, use PPE, and meet construction regulations.
Operate UisceÉireann vehicles and machinery responsibly, ensuring sufficient stock levels.
May be required to operate a 3.5/4.2 tonne vehicle or HGV vactor unit (20 tonne+).
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with key internal stakeholders.
Promote and deliver health and safety commitments, reinforcing positive behaviours.
Support the UisceÉireann Transformation Programme and organisational objectives.
Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Secondary education or equivalent work experience.
Valid Irish Category B driving licence (clean).
Experience in working within a strong health&safety culture.
Previous labouring or construction experience (advantage).
Knowledge of wastewater network infrastructure and operations.
Knowledge of wastewater network processes (advantage).
Experience using IT systems and Microsoft Office.
Strong problem‑solving and customer‑service skills.
Experience working in hazardous environments; occupational health assessment required.
Literacy skills.
Water services or other utilities experience (advantage).
Location and Working Hours Out‑of‑hours working will be required, with appropriate overtime and standby rates. Candidates must be located within a reasonable distance from the assigned work area to respond to requirements in a timely manner.
Salary Minimum starting salary of€36,640, based on skills and experience.
