Role Overview We are seeking a
Design Coordinator
to join our expanding team. This role is ideal for an experienced Coordinator or a
Design Technician from a multidisciplinary consultancy
looking to transition into a main contractor environment.
You will be the central link between the design team and the site delivery team, ensuring that technical information is accurate, integrated across all disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP), and delivered on schedule.
Key Responsibilities Design Integration&Coordination
Coordinate consultant and subcontractor designs to eliminate clashes and ensure full multi-disciplinary integration.
Chair/facilitate Design Team Meetings (DTM), tracking actions and ensuring the timely flow of information.
Manage the
Design Responsibility Matrix
and ensure all parties understand their deliverables.
Administer document control and information exchange via CDEs (BIM 360, Procore, or Aconex).
Technical Review&Compliance
Conduct thorough reviews of drawings and specifications for buildability and compliance with Irish Building Regulations and
BC(A)R .
Manage the
RFI
process, ensuring technical queries are resolved swiftly to avoid site delays.
Oversee the submittal process for subcontractor shop drawings, ensuring they align with the master design.
Pre-Construction&BIM
Assist the bid team during tenders by identifying design risks and value engineering opportunities.
Support
BIM coordination
workflows, ensuring models are functional and meet project standards.
Review Employer’s Requirements to ensure the design remains within the project scope.
Construction&Close-Out
Provide on-site technical support to Project Managers and Site Foremen.
Liaise with the commercial team to identify design changes that may impact project costs.
Coordinate the collection of ancillary certificates, O&Ms, and as-built drawings for a smooth project handover.
Requirements
Qualifications&Experience
Education:
Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or Construction Management.
Experience:
3–5 years’ experience in a Design Coordination role with a main contractor
OR
as a Design Technician within a multidisciplinary consultancy.
Sector Exposure:
Previous experience in Residential, Commercial, or Life Sciences projects is highly desirable.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Irish planning processes, BC(A)R, and Fire/DAC requirements.
Multi-Disciplinary Mindset:
Ability to read and coordinate Architectural, Structural, and MEP drawings.
Software:
Proficiency in BIM platforms (Revit/Navisworks) and document management software.
Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships between external consultants and internal site teams.
Drive:
A proactive problem-solver who can manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
