About the post The principal objective of the post is to develop, build and maintain networks and relationships with key partners and stakeholders, specifically those in the pharmaceutical, medtech and allied healthcare sectors, to secure high-quality internships and work‑based learning opportunities for students of the BSc Advanced Therapeutic Technologies (ATT).
The role will align academic programmes with industry needs, while supporting Ireland’s talent pipeline in collaboration with key stakeholders such as regional industry clusters, IDA Ireland and international research collaborators. This role is vital to ensuring the sustainability, quality, and reputation of the ATT programme and enhancing students’ real‑world experience andfuture employability.
Job Responsibilities 1. Employer Engagement&Partnership Development
Identify, engage, and build relationships with employers across biopharma and allied healthcare sectors
Develop long‑term partnerships with hiring managers, HR leaders, and R&D teams
Develop a sustainable pipeline of placement opportunities to meet growing student numbers
Build strong relationships with industry bodies (e.g., IPHA, BioPharmaChem Ireland, NIBRT, IDA, EI, clusters and innovation hubs (SMEs)).
Monitor labour market trends in biopharma and healthcare (e.g. demand for skills in Biotechnology, Clinical Research, regulatory compliance)
Act as the primary point of contact for employer engagement related to internships and placements
Proactively pitch internship programs as a talent pipeline solution to address skills shortages in areas such as regulatory affairs, clinical research, quality assurance, and bioprocessing
Build and manage a pipeline of prospective employers, converting leads into active internship partners
Maintain a CRM‑style record of leads, interactions, and partnership outcomes.
3. Placement co‑ordination
Oversee the full lifecycle of placement coordination, including supporting matching students to opportunities, managing timelines, and ensuring compliance with institutional and legal requirements.
Support organisations in onboarding students and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Provide ongoing support and check‑ins during the placement period.
Gather and analyse placement feedback to drive continuous improvement.
4. Marketing&Promotion
Support the delivery of targeted campaigns promoting internships to biopharma and healthcare employers
Organise and attend employer engagement events (industry panels, networking sessions, site visits)
5. Monitoring, Evaluation&Reporting
Track key metrics such as employer engagement, internship placements, and conversion to graduate roles
Gather feedback from employers and students to continuously improve the program
Produce reports demonstrating impact and return on investment
6. Compliance&Risk Management
Ensure all internships comply with sector‑specific regulations (e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), patient safety standards, data protection, QQI requirements)
Support employers in understanding supervision, confidentiality, and ethical requirements
Maintain documentation and agreements aligned with legal and institutional policies
Knowledge&Experience– (Essential)
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, business, or a related field (Master’s desirable)
Proven experience in employer engagement, business development, or partnership management
Background in /understanding of the biopharma, medtech, or healthcare environment
A strong awareness of HR matters and industry intern programmes
Effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation
Strong negotiating skills to navigate successful corporate partnerships
Requires minimum direction, high personal energy, positive approach to dealing with challenges and ambiguity
Ability to work independently and flexibly, and manage a pipeline of external partners
Previous relevant experience in representing a third level institution in external partnerships and industry networking opportunities
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g. GMP, clinical trial processes)
Existing network within industry (pharma companies, hospitals, CROs)
Experience working within higher education or workforce development
