Software Development Manager, Aurora PostgreSQL, Dublin Pike

Description We’re building hyper‑scale database services for the cloud. As a software engineering leader on the Amazon Aurora team, you will design, build, and ship reliable, scalable, high‑performance components that power millions of AWS customers. You will lead multiple teams, hire and mentor engineers,and drive technical strategy for the PostgreSQL‑compatible edition of Amazon Aurora.

Aurora combines enterprise‑class performance and availability with the ease of use of RDS. The team tackles challenging problems in distributed systems, query optimization, concurrency, caching, and performance engineering.

Responsibilities

Lead design, implementation, and ownership of Aurora’s core system components.

Translate high‑level technical requirements into executable project plans.

Mentor and grow a high‑performing engineering team.

Collaborate with product, program, and other technical teams to define and deliver new features.

Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of the service.

Qualifications

Knowledge of engineering best practices across the software development lifecycle.

Proven experience managing engineering teams.

Hands‑on experience building and scaling multi‑tier web services.

Strong analytical and problem‑diagnosis skills.

Experience in query processing, optimization, or high‑performance systems is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience communicating requirements and designs to users, technical teams, and senior leadership.

Recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and coaching software engineers to improve their effectiveness.
