As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, we are seeking an exceptional Associate Director of Recruitment to join our senior leadership team and help shape the future of our business.

The Role This is a senior, high-impact position suited to a seasoned recruitment professional who is ready to take the next step in their career. As Associate Director, you will lead from the front - driving business growth, managing key client relationships, and overseeing delivery across your specialist desk.

You will combine the commercial sharpness of a top biller with the strategic thinking and leadership presence of a senior operator. This is an opportunity to own a desk, influence the direction of the agency, and be rewarded accordingly.

Key Responsibilities Business Development&Client Management

Lead business development activity, identifying and converting new client opportunities across PR, Communications, Public Affairs, and Marketing

Own and grow a portfolio of senior client relationships, acting as a trusted strategic partner to hiring managers and senior stakeholders

Attend client meetings, pitches, and industry events, representing Spencer Recruitment at a senior level

Develop and implement strategies to expand market share and drive revenue growth across your desk

Negotiate commercial terms, including retained and exclusive mandates

Candidate Management&Delivery

Manage the full 360° recruitment cycle for mid-to-senior level appointments, from briefing through to offer and placement

Build and maintain a high-calibre candidate network, staying closely connected to key talent movements within specialist markets

Conduct competency-based interviews and provide in-depth candidate assessments to clients

Deliver expert market guidance, interview coaching, and offer management to both clients and candidates

Leadership&Commercial Performance

Consistently achieve and exceed personal billing targets and KPIs at a senior level

Contribute to team strategy, sharing market intelligence and supporting a high-performance culture

Mentor and support junior consultants, helping to develop talent within the team

Maintain rigorous standards across CRM usage, data accuracy, and process compliance

Stay ahead of market trends, competitor activity, and sector developments to position Spencer Recruitment as a market leader

About You

Minimum 5+ years of recruitment experience, with a demonstrable track record at senior consultant or management level

Proven history of strong personal billing and successful business development, including winning and retaining senior client accounts

Experience managing complex, senior-level assignments and delivering against demanding briefs

Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills - confident operating at Director and C-suite level

Highly self-motivated, commercially astute, and results-driven

Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment

Proficient with recruitment CRM systems, LinkedIn Recruiter, and modern sourcing tools

Sector-specific experience in PR, Communications, Public Affairs, or Marketing recruitment

An existing network of senior candidates and clients within these specialist markets

Experience contributing to team development or informal leadership
