Senior Geotechnical Engineer
to join our team in Dublin.
About our role: This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Company, recently launched in Dublin, but with the backing of an established Company in the UK and a wider Group in France. You will have the opportunity to work on major infrastructure, transportation and energy projects in Ireland and internationally. Working as part of a small team will provide opportunities and exposure to a broad range of experiences and responsibilities. Some of the day to day tasks will include:
Undertake and lead assignments in Ireland and internationally, collaborating across teams in a multidisciplinary environment
Deliver geotechnical engineering solutions across a broad range of structural types and using local and international standard, including design and analysis at a range of project stages including conceptual, preliminary and detailed design; checking and analysis of internal and third-party designs; value engineering to review designs and assist in finding solutions and improvements for clients; finite element analysis and report on results
Prepare drawings, reports, calculations, analysis and specifications to report internally and to clients
Carry out site inspections, investigations and supervision for projects, liaising with designers and contractors to support construction works
About you:
Professionally qualified and Chartered Civil Engineer, ideally with a post graduate qualification in a geotechnically related subject
Capable“hands on” geotechnical designer. Detailed design experience including deep and shallow foundations (vertical and lateral capacity, settlement), deep excavations, basements, retaining structures, earthworks, soil and rock slope engineering, ground improvement, seismicity and liquefaction and instrumentation and monitoring
Strong knowledge of geotechnical and engineering geological processes and design, with a particular emphasis on data interpretation, design&analysis, construction and advanced numerical modelling
Ground investigation experience including design, preparation of tender documents, supervision, interpretation
Extensive knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies and procedures
Experience at Assignment Manager and Designer level with a record of managing commercial and contractual aspects and delivering assignments to programme and budget
Experience predominantly in large-scale, high-profile infrastructure projects, for a range of Clients in various construction market sectors
Excellent team working skills; able to lead, contribute to and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment
Proficient user of 2D and 3D finite element analysis software (e.g. PLAXIS, Z-soil) and other geotechnical software such as WALLAP, Repute, GROUP, LPile, APile, Rocscience Slide2, gINT, or equivalent
