QA - Non-Functional Test Engineer– Payments / POS Location: Ireland (project-based / client site depending on role requirements)
We are currently seeking two Non-Functional Test Engineers (1 Senior, 1 Mid-Level) to join a major international project in the payments and POS ecosystem. The role focuses on validating performance, scalability, resilience and operational integrity of cloud-native platforms, Android POS devices, and payment ecosystem integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Define, refine and validate Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).
Design and execute load, stress, spike, endurance and soak tests.
Measure key KPIs such as throughput, latency, resource utilisation and SLA adherence.
Validate transaction performance across payment ecosystems.
Test CPU, memory, battery and thermal performance on Android POS devices.
Validate responsiveness, session stability and long-duration device performance.
Execute extended soak tests on production builds.
Validate Kubernetes-based microservices environments.
Test auto-scaling, failover, resilience, deployment strategies and messaging systems.
Assess queue and distributed systems performance.
Validate TLS, API integrity, rate limiting and secure operational performance.
Ensure PCI-aligned behaviour and secure logging practices.
Analyse logs, dashboards and tracing tools to identify bottlenecks and anomalies.
Monitor latency, throughput, throttling and recovery patterns.
Build NFT strategies, scripts, KPI dashboards and bottleneck analysis.
Participate in Agile / SAFe environments and continuous improvement initiatives.
Core Skills&Requirements
Strong experience in Non-Functional / Performance testing.
Experience with JMeter, Gatling or Locust.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and cloud-native environments.
Knowledge of observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk, etc.).
API and protocol testing experience.
Scripting with Python or Bash.
Understanding of payments, POS or regulated systems is highly valuable.
Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
3-6 years QA experience.
2-5+ years dedicated NFT / performance testing.
Strong cloud-native and distributed systems expertise.Leadership in large-scale performance programmes.
Strong practical knowledge of performance tools and cloud fundamentals.
