Job Description UCD School of Earth Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer / Assistant Professor (below the bar) in Palaeontology for a specified purpose, with an estimated duration of 12 months. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and engaging university teacher expected to contribute to both undergraduate (Earth Sciences BSc (Hons)) and Masters programmes.
Responsibilities
Develop and teach a new Earth Sciences module on palaeobiology and stratigraphy.
Contribute to existing core and elective undergraduate and postgraduate Earth Science modules.
Supervise final year BSc student projects.
Teach geology field classes.
Conduct research in chosen areas of interest.
Qualifications
PhD in palaeontology, geology, or a related field.
Strong track record in one or more of the following areas: invertebrate palaeontology, ichnology, conservation palaeobiology, micropaleontology, stratigraphy.
Expertise in carbonate sedimentology, and/or the stratigraphic record of Earth system change preferred.
Experience in curriculum development and undergraduate teaching.
Compensation Salary Scale:€42,599 – €72,717 per annum (scale 2010). Appointment on scale in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
