The Role We are currently inviting applications from experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapists for the role of Senior Speech and Language Therapist on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role within a friendly, dynamic, and supportive multidisciplinary team while making a meaningful contribution to specialist mental health and neuropsychiatric care services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes based on assessment findings and evidence-based practice.
Deliver therapy interventions on an individual and group basis as appropriate.
Evaluate, monitor, and document client progress and adapt treatment plans accordingly.
Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure holistic and person-centred care.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, service planning, and clinical reviews.
Make clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases.
Arrange and carry out assessment and intervention programmes in line with local policies and professional guidelines.
Support the management of decision‑making and capacity assessments in collaboration with MDT colleagues and service users.
Communicate assessment outcomes and recommendations clearly to service users, families, and relevant professionals.
Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in accordance with departmental, CORU, and professional standards.
Provide clinical leadership through supporting and supervising staff, prioritising workload allocation, and promoting positive staff morale.
Participate in the practice education and supervision of student Speech and Language Therapists and support the ongoing training and development of colleagues.
Engage in planning and performance review processes with the Clinical Director.
Contribute to ongoing service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit, research, and continuing professional development activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
Registration with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist in Ireland.
Dysphagia qualification accredited by IASLT or equivalent recognised qualification.
Minimum of 3 years full‑time post‑qualification clinical experience working with adults.
Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with adults with acquired disorders.
Demonstrated clinical proficiency in the assessment and treatment of acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic interventions relevant to adult neuropsychiatric and mental health settings.
Experience working in a neuro-disability or adult mental health setting.
Experience supporting adults with complex neurodegenerative conditions.
