About the Role We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Planner to join our team in Ballycoolin. This is a key operational role responsible for planning daily HGV routes, allocating drivers, and ensuring the smooth running of transport operations.
The successful candidate will act as the main point of contact for drivers, resolving issues in real time while ensuring deliveries and collections are completed efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and schedule daily HGV routes to maximise operational efficiency and service levels
Allocate drivers to jobs based on availability, location, and compliance requirements
Monitor drivers throughout the day and proactively resolve operational issues
Liaise with drivers to ensure smooth access to and exit from customer sites
Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to maintain high service standards
Coordinate with site operatives to ensure tanks and equipment are prepared and ready for dispatch
Ensure compliance with driver hours, tachograph regulations, and health&safety procedures
Maintain accurate records of schedules, driver activity, and transport operations
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination, or fleet operations
Strong understanding of HGV operations and driver compliance regulations
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
Strong communication skills with confidence in dealing with drivers, customers, and internal teams
Good IT skills, including transport planning systems and spreadsheets
A proactive and team-oriented approach
