About the Position The successful applicant will be engaged as a staff member by the Australian Ambassador on a part-time contract.
Please note that domestic staff are regarded as private employees of the Ambassador and not locally engaged staff of the Australian Embassy Ireland nor employees of the Australian Government.
Please be advised that the Australian Embassy, Dublin does not assist with relocation. Any costs associated with taking up the position would be the responsibility of the successful candidate. Applicants must have the right to work in Ireland.
The successful applicant will need to undergo pre-employment checks prior to engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Co‑ordinate annual property maintenance program including scheduling and record keeping of works to be carried out at the Ambassador’s Residence.
Provide property management support, identify and undertake general maintenance work at the Ambassador’s Residence.
Be the point of contact between the Australian Embassy in Ireland, the Australian government property service provider, its contractors, and all maintenance services at the Ambassador’s Residence.
Liaise directly with the Ambassador and the property liaison officer(s) at the Australian Embassy regarding property matters.
Provide property and event support for official visits and functions.
Qualifications/Experience
Demonstrated ability to carry out general maintenance works (e.g. trades certificate and experience).
Clean driving licence valid in Ireland.
Ability to prioritise workloads, troubleshoot, resolve issues, work effectively to meet deadlines whilst adhering to workplace health and safety legislation and requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as an effective member of a team and provide high quality services and advice.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and demonstrate sound judgement, including on when to elevate versus manage maintenance issues.
Availability to work outside regular hours, as required.
Selection Criteria
A. Professional experience in managing day-to-day maintenance with a background in trade work.
B. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
C. Good organisation, time management skills, initiative, and the ability to prioritise operational needs.
D. Ability to prepare and stage the property for official functions.
