Description
First filter: you already drink matcha. Like, properly. You have a tin at home, you have opinions about it, and you’ve definitely paid €6 for one in town and not regretted it. If that’s not you, this one isn’t for you! We’re Mafia Matcha - an Irish matcha brand now stocked in over 200 coffee shops and retailers across Ireland, plus our own DTC channel and pop‑ups around Dublin.
We’re a small team building something a bit louder, a bit more fun, and a lot better‑tasting than what’s already out there - and we’re growing fast enough that the founder genuinely needs a second pair of hands across ops and brand this summer.
This isn’t a “shadow the team and write a report at the end” internship. You’ll be in the warehouse packing real orders, in the office throwing ideas around, and out at pop‑ups talking matcha with strangers – often on the same day.
What a week actually looks like: One day you’re at our Sandyford warehouse packing 30 orders, restocking, and making sure the shelves don’t descend into chaos. The next you’re at the office helping us figure out which 15 creators to send PR boxes to, drafting the outreach, and getting the boxes out the door. Saturday you might be at a pop‑up in town whisking matcha for people who’ve never tried it and convincing them they’ve been missing out. Monday you bring back three ideas from what you saw at the pop‑up and we actually try one of them.
That’s the job. Ops + brand + customer‑facing, mixed together, every week different.
The split, roughly
~50% Operations - packing orders, warehouse organisation, stock, the day‑to‑day of a small brand running properly
~30% Brand&PR - running our PR/UGC outreach end‑to‑end: building lists, writing outreach, prepping boxes, following up, learning what works
~20% Pop‑ups&events - repping the brand in person, serving matcha, educating people, being the face of Mafia Matcha out in the wild
The split flexes week to week. Some weeks are heavier on events, some on ops.
Some weekend availability is needed– pop‑ups happen when our customers are free, which is often Saturdays.
You’ll thrive here if you:
Are a 2nd or 3rd year Business‑oriented student (marketing, commerce, entrepreneurship, management - anything in that family)
Genuinely drink matcha and can talk about it without faking it
Are obsessed with brands and social– you follow visual brands, you screenshot good packaging, you have opinions about why some DTC brands fly and others die
Bring ideas without being asked. If you notice the order labels could be laid out better, you say so. If a creator we should DM isn’t on our list, you add them.
Are organised enough that nothing slips, and chilled enough to roll with a startup week where the plan changes on Wednesday
Are warm and confident with strangers at pop‑ups – not performative, just genuinely happy to chat about something you love
Have your own car– non‑negotiable. You’ll be moving between Sandyford and pop‑ups around Dublin with equipment.
Live in South Dublin– Dundrum, Stillorgan, Sandyford, Foxrock, Blackrock, Dún Laoghaire etc. Max ~20 min by car from Sandyford.
This isn’t the job for you if:
You don’t drink matcha and you’re hoping you’ll “grow into it”
You don’t drive or don’t have access to a car
You want a structured corporate internship with a defined programme and a manager telling you what to do every hour
The idea of packing orders or doing manual warehouse work feels beneath you (we all do it, including the founders)
You’re not based in or near South Dublin and the commute would be a stretch
“Just doing what’s on your job description” is your default setting
Logistics:
Pay:€16,5/hour – paid for every hour worked, including weeks that run longer
Hours: 20/week base, some weeks more with prior agreement
Start: Monday 22nd June 2026
End: Sunday 14th September 2026, with strong possibility of extension into a part‑time role through the academic year (hours flexed around your timetable). That’s the actual goal here, we’d rather invest in one person who sticks for another year or two than re‑hire every summer.
Location: Sandyford‑based, with pop‑ups around Dublin and beyond
How to apply: Send the following to :
1. Your CV (one page, please)
2. A short intro– written, voice note, or Loom, whatever you prefer. Tell us why Mafia Matcha specifically, and your honest matcha story (when, how often, favourite way to drink it).
3. Pick one– a) Name 3 creators or press contacts you’d want us to send a PR box to, and one line on why each b) Tell us one thing about Mafia Matcha’s social / brand / website you’d change, and what you’d try instead
Follow us before you apply: @mafiamatcha IG/TikTok– it’ll tell you more about who we are than any job ad can :)
