To provide clinical and managerial leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to infants and families within the neonatal high dependency area and ward cots on St Michaels B ward. To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources and to undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the CNMII.To be a role model in coordinating and managing the specialist neonatal care required for those complex, medical, surgical and preterm neonates within the 6 bed Neonatal High Dependency Unit (NHDU). To safeguard the provision of high standards of quality care to infants and their families consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the hospital.

Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this post is:

To provide clinical and managerial leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to infants and families within the neonatal high dependency area and ward cots on St Michaels B ward. Essential Criteria:

Be registered on the Children’s Division

and/or

the General Division of the Register of Nurses&Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland;

AND

Have 2 years post graduate neonatal experience, proficient in the care of neonates receiving acute non-invasive ventilation;

AND

Have proven clinical and managerial ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills;

AND

Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level.
