Echelon Data Centres was established in 2017 by the main principal of Aldgate Developments, a leading commercial property developer and owner of major commercial office buildings in Central London and Dublin. The objective was developing, operating, and owning a network of large-scale, responsibly designed, sustainably powered data centre campuses across the world to meet the rapidly expanding global demand for hyperscale data processing and storage solutions.
Echelon currently has seven Data Centre facilities either operational or in development across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Spain with a combined capacity of approximately 1.25GW. The recent acquisition of a prime 37‑acre site in Italy, marks the next step of Echelon’s expansion into Continental Europe.
The Role The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of maintenance activities and change processes within Echelon Data Centres. This role involves auditing maintenance schedules, managing resources, and ensuring that all changes are implemented smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance Planning Develop and maintain comprehensive maintenance schedules for all data centre assets, equipment and facilities.
Liaise with operation and maintenance teams to ensure all asset information is current and accurate.
Coordinate with various departments to ensure maintenance activities are planned and executed in accordance with contractual SLA compliance without disrupting operations.
Monitor stock inventory and ensure all information in relation to spare parts is current and accurate.
Conduct regular assessments to identify maintenance needs, update schedules accordingly and prioritize tasks.
Resource Management Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel and materials, for maintenance activities.
Work with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of maintenance services and materials.
Monitor and control maintenance budgets.
Change Management Develop and implement change management processes to ensure all changes are documented, reviewed, and approved.
Coordinate with IT, facilities, and other departments to manage the impact of changes on operations.
Conduct risk assessments for proposed changes and develop mitigation plans.
Team Management Promote a culture of safety and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Compliance Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and data protection laws.
Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to maintenance and change management processes.
Participate in internal and external audits.
Ensure changes to any process documentation are conducted with document version control.
Work closely with IT, facilities, and other departments to ensure a coordinated approach to maintenance and change management.
Facilitate communication between departments to ensure smooth implementation of changes.
Attendance and cooperation at inter‑departmental meetings where required.
Reporting Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, highlighting key issues and recommendations.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and changes.
Qualifications Educational Background Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
Professional Experience At least 5 years of experience in maintenance planning and change management, preferably within a data centre or critical infrastructure environment.
Certifications Relevant certifications such as PMP, CMRP, or ITIL are highly desirable.
Technical Skills Strong knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling tools.
Understanding of change management principles and practices.
Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
Proficiency in maintenance management software and tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organisational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
