Role Overview ChildVision is seeking compassionate, motivated, and flexible individuals to join our Social Care Relief Panel as Social&Healthcare Assistants. Based within our residential services in Drumcondra, this role involves supporting children and young people with visual impairments, and in some cases additional needs, to live fulfilling and meaningful lives in a safe, nurturing, and person‑centred environment. Relief panel staff provide flexible cover for shifts arising from annual leave, vacancies, training, and other short‑term staffing requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to gain a wealth of experience while making a meaningful difference in the lives of the young people we support.
Key Responsibilities
Support children and young people with activities of daily living in line with individual support plans
Assist with personal care and self‑care activities while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing
Support participation in social, recreational, educational, and community‑based activities
Encourage and support the development of life skills and independence
Provide one‑to‑one support where required
Contribute to creating a positive, safe, inclusive home environment
Build positive and respectful relationships with the people we support, their families, and colleagues
Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation, including daily reports, handover notes, and relevant records
Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health&safety, and confidentiality requirements
Essential Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt communication to individual needs
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Strong observational skills and ability to respond appropriately to changing support needs
Positive, proactive, and solution‑focused approach
Compassionate, respectful, and person‑centred attitude
Understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and duty of care
Commitment to promoting inclusion, dignity, and independence
Desirable
Hold or be working towards a QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support, Social Care, Community Care, or equivalent, or presently undertaking a qualification in Nursing, Social Care or another allied health or healthcare‑related discipline
Previous experience working in residential, disability, healthcare, or community settings
Experience supporting individuals with visual impairment and/or additional needs
First Aid certification
Manual Handling training
Other Requirements
Eligible to work in Ireland
Satisfactory reference checks and Garda vetting
Available to interview in person
