Senior/Staff Grade Psychologist Permanent Contracts - Full or Part time hours available Closing date: Friday 19th June 2026 Responsible to: Children's Disability Network Manager

Base: West Cork catchment area– providing comprehensive psychological services including Autism assessments.

This job description indicates the main functions and responsibilities of this post and is subject to review and amendment.

Overall Purpose of Position To work with the Psychology team providing comprehensive psychological services to children with complex developmental needs and disabilities as part of the West Cork CDNT Autism Service. To support and supervise basic grade, assistant/trainee psychologists (Senior Psychologist only).

Main Responsibilities

Provide a broad range of psychological services to children and their families, directly or indirectly, face‑to‑face or via telehealth, one‑to‑one or in groups.

Complete a range of psychological assessments (e.g., cognitive assessments, adaptive behaviour, mental health screening).

Deliver psychological interventions including parenting support, children’s mental health and well‑being, distressed behaviour, emotional regulation, and support for diagnosed conditions such as physical and sensory disabilities and syndromes.

Liaise with children, parents, and families regarding assessments, outcomes, interventions and reviews.

Participate in WCCDNT internal meetings (psychology meetings, meetings with teachers, Individual Family Service Plans, Initial Team Assessments, Team Reviews, inter‑agency meetings).

Work as part of an interdisciplinary team and take part in team meetings, assessments, reviews and interventions.

Prepare professional reports and attend case conferences and other consultancy work.

Liaise with other professionals and organisations and represent the organisation at meetings, seminars, conferences.

Maintain records and submit reports as required by the Children’s Disability Network Manager or designated Line Manager.

Provide training and support to parents (Early Bird, Early Bird Plus and Teen Life Parent Training Programmes).

Deliver in‑service training to WCCDNT staff or other relevant persons.

Take responsibility for own continued professional development.

Use supervision to benefit professional practice.

Conduct research relevant to the organisation as required.

Keep up‑to‑date with best practice procedures and work within the parameters of the professional Code of Ethics of the Psychological Society of Ireland and the ethos of CoAction West Cork.

Supervision

Support and supervise assistant, trainee or basic grade psychologists (Senior Psychologist only).

Identify training needs and support ongoing professional development among psychology staff (Senior Psychologist only).

General Particulars

Permanent post of 35 hours per week; full or part‑time applications welcome.

Base in West Cork.

Only candidates from the EU; no visas or sponsorship offered.

Remuneration

Basic Grade Psychologist:€66,911 to €105,537 per annum (FTE).

Senior Psychologist:€97,980 to €115,168 per annum (FTE).

Other Requirements

Must have personal transport and a valid driving licence.

Applicants must provide original documentation for all qualification and experience requirements. Non‑Irish qualifications must be verified by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
