Location The role is based in Elm Park, Dublin 4, with a hybrid working model offering flexibility.
Opportunity We are recruiting a Construction Underwriter for our Commercial business to support ambitious growth targets into 2028. The role is a technical underwriting position within Allianz Ireland’s Construction team, managing complex construction risks, multinational clients, and portfolio business, ensuring alignment with Allianz Group standards and local regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and underwrite construction and renewable new business and renewal risks to meet GWP and profitability targets.
Support the renewable power proposition by underwriting risk reviews and collaborating with senior underwriters and Allianz Group stakeholders.
Lead engagements with brokers and key clients, coordinating with the Allianz Customer Relationship team to achieve construction and liability targets.
Support portfolio management and underwriting of scheme business.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders in customer, pricing and portfolio management to negotiate terms and conduct detailed risk assessment within DUA framework agreements.
Share knowledge and technical expertise with colleagues and contribute to team development.
Identify and implement improvements in process, proposition or service to better serve customers.
Maintain strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to lead and support broker and client engagements.
Key Requirements / Skills&Experience
CIP/MDI/ACII or equivalent professional qualification.
Preferred 2 years’ experience in commercial underwriting.
Previous exposure to liability or property underwriting lines.
Proven ability to assess complex risks with excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
Experience in growth and achieving targets.
Experience working in cross‑functional teams or projects.
Pro‑active, positive and solutions‑oriented with a strong can‑do approach.
Desirable
Experience in construction, CAR, renewable energy, EAR, or defects.
Understanding of multinational programme structures and global compliance.
Relevant third level degree or qualification.
Proficiency in Salesforce, i90 and AI tools.
Understanding of core principles of data analytics and artificial intelligence.
