Maintenance and Facilities Manager County Cork Role Overview An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Facilities&Maintenance Manager to join a busy manufacturing operation in County Cork. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of all engineering operations across production, facilities, and site services. Working closely with Operations, Projects, Environmental, and Quality teams, this role will play a key part in maintaining an efficient, reliable, and future-ready manufacturing environment. Leading a skilled engineering team and overseeing engineering KPIs, maintenance budgets, and operational performance plans, the role is central to supporting production continuity, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Maintenance&Engineering Leadership Develop and deliver the site maintenance strategy aligned with production and compliance requirements. Lead maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution activities. Ensure engineering resources are effectively managed to maximise equipment uptime and operational efficiency. Production Engineering Support Lead engineering support activities across production and operational areas. Ensure rapid and effective response to breakdowns, maintenance issues, and quality risks. Work collaboratively with production teams to minimise downtime and support operational targets. Facilities&Site Services Ensure the reliability and performance of site utilities including refrigeration, steam, water, compressed air, HVAC, and wastewater systems. Support energy management, sustainability initiatives, and environmental compliance programmes. Coordinate contractor activities and oversee facilities-related service delivery. Food Safety, Compliance&Health&Safety Ensure all engineering and facilities activities support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards. Support compliance with HACCP, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and other relevant operational standards. Promote a strong safety culture across engineering and maintenance operations. Continuous Improvement&Reliability Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies and root cause analysis (RCA) techniques. Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational performance. People Leadership&Development Lead, coach, and develop engineering and facilities personnel. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Support employee development, training, and succession planning activities. Budget&Performance Management Manage maintenance and facilities budgets effectively. Monitor engineering performance metrics and KPI reporting. Support strategic planning and cost control initiatives. Systems, Reporting&Governance Manage and optimise CMMS systems and maintenance reporting processes. Track and report maintenance, reliability, and energy performance KPIs. Ensure maintenance documentation and compliance records are accurately maintained. Requirements Engineering qualification at degree level or a time-served apprenticeship. Proven maintenance management experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or a similar production environment. Strong leadership and people management experience. Good understanding of food safety, compliance, and audit standards. Experience managing facilities, utilities, and contractors. Strong communication, organisational, and structured problem-solving skills. Desirable Knowledge of PUWER regulations. Understanding of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and CE marking requirements.
