Description
At FSC, communications isn't just about messaging - it's about moving the world toward responsible forest management. As our Communications Programme Manager, you'll lead the strategy, stories, and team that bring that mission to life globally.

The scope This is a senior leadership role at the heart of FSC's communications unit. You will own the full communications lifecycle - from strategic narratives and thought leadership to project management, events, and team operations - ensuring everything FSC says is coherent, compelling, and impactful.

What You'll Lead Thought Leadership Design and drive a comprehensive thought leadership strategy that positions FSC as a trusted authority in responsible forest management - and as a leading voice on biodiversity and climate solutions.

Event Communications Amplify FSC's presence at major industry events through compelling storytelling and thought leadership that extends impact far beyond the room.

Communications Project Management Own the end-to-end delivery of communications projects - from concept to completion - keeping timelines, quality, and stakeholder alignment on track.

Strategic Narratives Develop and oversee message alignment across all key channels - digital and web, the annual report, thought leadership content, and newsletters - ensuring one clear, consistent FSC voice.

Monitoring&Evaluation Apply rigorous analytics and M&E methodologies to track performance, measure campaign success, and continuously sharpen communications effectiveness.

Team&Operations Lead, develop, and manage your communications team. Oversee workloads and budgets, foster a culture of learning and accountability, and ensure full compliance with FSC's policies and health and safety standards.

Your Profile Education Degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience

8+ years developing and implementing communications strategies

5+ years managing communications teams and staff

5+ years working on content messaging, positioning, and editorial delivery

Strong track record applying M&E methodologies to measure and improve communications campaigns

Tools MS Office suite; Adobe Creative Cloud is a strong plus.

Languages

Exceptional English - impeccable fluency required (spoken and written)

Spanish or French - a bonus

The Details

Location - Bonn, Germany (This is a hybrid role based in Bonn, Germany with 2-3 days working from office)

Hours - Full-time, 40 hours per week

Contract - 2-year temporary contract, with extension possible based on performance

Start date - As soon as possible

Travel - Occasional travel may be required
