Description
Midland Steel is seeking to appoint a Financial Accountant to support the day-to-day financial management and control of our Irish operations.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing transactional finance activities, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring strong financial governance across the business.
This opportunity would suit an organised and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys operating within a fast-paced and commercially focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day financial accounting activities across the Irish operations
Process and oversee supplier payments, customer receipts, and bank transactions
Perform regular bank, supplier, and customer account reconciliations
Maintain accurate purchase ledger and sales ledger records
Support month-end and year-end financial close processes
Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, and supporting reconciliations
Assist with cashflow monitoring and reporting
Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in line with company procedures
Assist in the preparation of management accounts and supporting financial reports
Support external audit and statutory reporting requirements
Maintain strong financial controls and compliance standards
Assist with continuous improvement of finance processes and systems
Work closely with operational departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and transaction processing
The ideal candidate will have:
Relevant accounting qualification or part-qualified accountant preferred
Previous experience in a financial accounting or finance operations role
Strong understanding of reconciliations, transactional finance, and financial controls
Experience working within ERP/accounting systems environments
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central highly desirable
Strong Microsoft Excel capability
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong organisational and time management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a wider finance team
Additional Information
Full-time onsite role primarily based at our Mountmellick office.
