Post Summary The Professor /Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is an academic post between Trinity College, The Dublin Dental University Hospital and St. James’s Hospital. This academic post will have a role in and contribute to establishing the national OMFS service at St James at the forefront of developments in Irish Healthcare through academic leadership in OMFS and participation in the Academic Health Science System (AHSS) partnership model. The AHSS partnership model is an integration of University, Hospital and CHO which aims to educate health professionals and leaders for the future and to produce excellence in interdisciplinary research, team science, patient care and creative community services (Chief Academic Office Group (CAO 2022, p 8). The post was established in the School of Dental Science, Trinity College Dublin to harness the synergies in education and translation research between OMFS, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Dentistry. The post will support the delivery of the national training programmes in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, specialist training in Oral Surgery and in Oral Medicine and for educational programmes in the School of Dental Science, and the School of Medicine, Trinity College.
