Staff Nurse - Interventional Radiology

Overview

A leading acute healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Staff Nurse to join a newly developed Neuro Interventional Radiology (IR) service opening in 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly specialised environment supporting minimally invasive neurovascular procedures and delivering exceptional patient care.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care before, during, and after neuro interventional procedures including cerebral angiograms, aneurysm coiling, and carotid stenting.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with neuro interventional radiology procedures, including induction of anaesthesiaPerform admission, discharge, and transfer proceduresConduct neurological and haemodynamic assessmentsRespond effectively to neurovascular emergenciesAdminister medications in line with hospital policies and professional guidelinesMaintain accurate and up-to-date nursing documentationCollaborate closely with radiology and neurosurgical teamsSupport quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processesParticipate in ongoing education and specialist trainingSupervise and support junior nursing staff where requiredEnsure safe use and maintenance of clinical equipmentParticipate in rostered shifts including weekends and on-call requirements

Requirements

Essential

Registered General Nurse with active NMBI registrationBachelor of Science in NursingMinimum 3 years' acute hospital experienceStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively within a multidisciplinary teamExcellent organisational and time management skillsFlexibility regarding rostering and service needs

Desirable

Experience in Neuro Interventional Radiology or a related specialised areaKnowledge of current developments within acute nursing careExperience participating in quality improvement projects
