to work for our Dublin office on a self-employed basis. sits within the Court Reporting Solutions part of the business. Epiq Dublin is well-respected for its ability to provide court transcription services using highly skilled professionals. If you have excellent English language skills, strong attention to detail and are self-motivated, you are the perfect fit for this role. This self-employed opportunity gives you flexibility in your working hours, plus the chance to work for a recognised organisation and be part of a successful and professional business.All candidates will undertake the Epiq on-line English, typing and editing assessments. Upon successful completion, you will be put forward for interview. Full training will be provided. Please note hearings may include material of a highly confidential nature, which can be emotionally challenging.Please note this is a self-employed role. Key Areas of Responsibility
To be familiar with Epiq client Style Guidelines in order to identify errors and inconsistencies in transcripts produced by home-based transcribers To proofread and amend screen based legal transcripts against the audio including court proceedings, company meetings, disciplinary hearings and tribunalsTo conduct style, formatting, content and inaudible checks on all transcript files prior to client delivery, making use of audio and any supporting materials, including glossaries and lists of speaker names To carry out full word-for-word Quality Controls of transcripts as part of the Quality Control and Training processTo Quality Control trainee transcriber training exercises and live transcription work for both style and content errors following the relevant Style Guidelines, provide constructive QC feedback and respond promptly to transcriber queries as required To coordinate transcript production such as printing and binding as and when requiredTranscription opportunities may be available from time to time and the requirement will be to produce transcripts from multi‑speaker audio following the Epiq Style Guidelines Duties may be added or varied, in response to the demands of the business and will be subject to agreement To produce accurate and correctly formatted transcripts within agreed timeframesTo provide appropriate and relevant Quality Control Feedback on transcripts produced by home-based transcribers Personal profile
Educated to minimum A level, Leaving Certificate or equivalent standard Excellent English language skills– grammar, spelling and punctuation Excellent listening, editing and proofreading skills Relevant work experience, preferably in a legal, parliamentary or business setting Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and ability to learn new softwareAbility to type (minimum 40 wpm) Previous experience with transcription is well-regarded but not essential High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Flexible and adaptable in approach Ability to manage workload and meet assignment deadlines Ability to effectively problem solve Self‑motivated and self‑disciplinedAbility to work independently Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times Proven written and spoken communication skills Interest in the law and current affairs Professional work ethic The Rewards
