Post Date : 29-May-2026 Close Date : 10-Jun-2026 Title: Clinical Tutor, Intern grade Department: Dept of Surgery Tenure: Full-time for 12 Months commencing July 2026 Location: Beaumont Hospital Reporting to: Head of Department or Nominee The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) is a private, self-financing, not-for-profit medical and surgical college headquartered in Dublin (Ireland) with global reach through its overseas medical universities and health care centres in the Middle East, the Far East and Africa. Since its foundation in 1784, it has played a leadership role in Irish surgical and medical education. Currently, it operates the largest Medical School in Ireland and provides undergraduate education in Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, and Nursing. In addition to Surgery, it also provides postgraduate training and education in Radiology, Dentistry, Nursing & Midwifery, Sports and Exercise Medicine, Healthcare Management and Leadership, and has an Institute of Research. Objective  The principal objective of the post is to participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation and examinations of the RCSI undergraduate teaching programme Benefits  Participate in clinical courses such as ACLS, IBU and PALS and be refunded up to €450 on successful completion; (Full list of approved courses available from HR) Refunds available up to €450 on passing approved examinations; Benefit from up to 14 days Educational Leave to support participation on approved courses, exams or professional development activities. Contract  This appointment will be on a full-time or part-time basis for a period of one year commencing July 2026. The successful candidate must be in a position to attend an induction programme in July 2026. Salary  €32,758 (or pro-rated for a part-time appointment) Principal Duties and Responsibilities  Attending mandatory induction for tutors and lecturers Contributing to the assessment of students in the junior, intermediate and senior cycles of the four and five year programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of these activities and may require travel to exam centres outside of your designated hospital/centre of employment Contributing to the assessment of students in the junior, intermediate and 4th Medical year (SC1) senior cycles of the four and five year programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of these activities and may require travel to exam centres outside of your designated hospital/centre of employment Providing weekly reports and attending weekly meetings with heads of department Providing communication with student groups via the RCSI virtual learning environment Delivering the curriculum at a number of sites Ensuring adherence to Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies and procedures Complying with statutory legislation and department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety Representing the best interests of the department/RCSI at all times Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time. Personal Specification  The successful candidate will have graduated from the 2025 RCSI medical programme. Please note we will not be in a position to apply for a work permit for this post so the successful candidate must be in a position to work full time in Ireland for the duration of the 12 month contract.
