Senior Property Underwriter, Dublin

An opportunity has arisen for a Property Underwriter to join a high performing commercial underwriting team. This role will focus on both new business development and the management of an existing portfolio, contributing to the profitable growth of the property book. You will have underwriting authority and play a key role in broker engagement, portfolio management, and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Underwrite new and renewal property risks in line with underwriting guidelines and profitability targets. Take ownership of a defined portfolio, ensuring strong retention and disciplined growth Apply sound underwriting judgement to assess risk, pricing, and coverage decisions within delegated authority. Develop and maintain strong relationships with broker partners, becoming a key point of contact. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to support portfolio expansion. Deliver a high standard of service to brokers, ensuring timely and effective communication. Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to underwriting strategy and planning. Ensure all underwriting activity is compliant with internal governance, regulatory requirements, and risk frameworks. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and policy records. Support internal stakeholders across claims, operations, and distribution where required. Experience&Skills Required: Proven experience in property underwriting or a strong broker background within commercial lines. Demonstrated ability to manage both new business and renewals in a fast-paced environment. Strong technical underwriting knowledge with good commercial awareness. Experience working with brokers and building lasting external relationships. Ability to make informed decisions within authority and escalate where appropriate. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and underwriting systems. Working towards or meeting Minimum Competency Requirements (MCR) as set by the Central Bank of Ireland.
