Database Engineer (Oracle), Dublin

Contract: Daily rate / Fixed-term contract (depending on client requirement)

This role sits within a critical fund and investment operations function, supporting large-scale systems that underpin core financial services.

Our client, a global investment bank, is seeking a highly motivated Database Engineer to join a key technology team responsible for delivering robust, scalable data solutions across fund operations platforms. Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Oracle database solutions using SQL and PL/SQLAnalyse data and optimise database performance through effective tuning techniquesBuild and enhance data access layers for both real-time and batch processing systemsAssess existing database implementations and drive improvements in performance, scalability, and maintainabilityCollaborate with application development and architecture teams to deliver efficient end-to-end solutionsSupport data movement and ETL processes across enterprise systemsContribute to CI/CD and modern development practices where applicable

Required Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Oracle SQL and PL/SQLStrong expertise in data analysis and SQL performance tuningProven experience designing relational databases and logical data modelsExperience working with large-scale, PL/SQL-heavy applicationsFamiliarity with database environments such as RDBMS, data warehouses, and operational data storesExperience with ETL tools (Informatica preferred)Exposure to job scheduling tools (e.g. Control-M)Comfortable working in UNIX environmentsExperience using source control systemsHands-on use of GenAI tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot) to support development

Desirable Skills

Oracle certificationExperience working in Agile environmentsUnderstanding of CI/CD methodologiesKnowledge of financial systems, ideally within fund or investment operations
