PharmaPipe is looking for an ambitious and commercially focused Business Development Manager to help drive growth across our engineering services offering. This role is central to expanding our client base, strengthening long-term relationships, and reinforcing PharmaPipe’s position as a trusted partner within the engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities 1. Identify New Business Opportunities
Carry out market research to identify prospective clients, target sectors and new opportunities for growth.
Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to inform business development priorities.
Use data and market insight to assess the value of potential projects, partnerships and strategic opportunities.
2. Build and Maintain Client Relationships
Develop strong relationships with existing clients to support satisfaction, retention and repeat business.
Understand client requirements and shape tailored solutions that align with their operational and project needs.
Maintain accurate records of client engagement and pipeline activity through CRM systems.
3. Develop Strategic Partnerships
Work with external businesses, partners and stakeholders to build mutually beneficial relationships.
Support the negotiation of contracts and agreements that align with the company’s strategic and commercial objectives.
4. Lead Strategic Planning and Execution
Develop and deliver business development strategies that support long‑term company goals.
Set measurable targets and key performance indicators to track progress and performance.
Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing and project management, to ensure business development activity is aligned with wider commercial objectives.
5. Prepare and Present Proposals
Prepare compelling proposals and client presentations that clearly communicate PharmaPipe’s technical capability and value.
Manage objections, negotiate commercial terms and support the successful conversion of opportunities into new business.
6. Generate and Qualify Leads
Generate leads through networking, industry events, referrals and targeted outreach.
Assess and prioritise leads based on strategic fit, commercial value and likelihood of conversion.
7. Monitor Performance and Report Progress
Track the effectiveness of business development activity and refine strategies where needed.
Provide regular updates to leadership on pipeline development, opportunities and commercial performance.
Carry out ongoing market analysis to identify industry trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies relevant to our services.
9. Represent the Brand
Represent PharmaPipe at industry events, conferences and networking forums, promoting our expertise and value proposition to the market.
Qualifications
Education:
Degree in Engineering (Desirable but not essential)
Experience:
Proven experience in business development within engineering consultancy, construction or a related technical sector.
Network:
An established professional network across the European market.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of piping design, construction and operational requirements.
Skills:
Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
Performance:
Demonstrated success in meeting sales targets and contributing to business growth.
Attributes:
Self‑motivated, results‑focused, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility:
Willingness to travel as required.
