Quantity Surveyor, Clonee, Ireland– Mercury Scope Of The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor for the project, you will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the job are price agreed to achieve an acceptable rate of return to Mercury. You will maintain a sufficient history and paper trail to support all payment and claim submissions, set specific goals that align with the overall project objectives, and manage the delivery of these goals in a forward‑looking and controlled manner. The role requires regular travel to Europe.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
Review and prepare subcontract documentation, ensuring compliance.
Price mechanical and electrical tenders for sustaining sites.
Measure and price contract variations.
Prepare monthly interim applications for payments where applicable.
Issue contractual notices and evaluate loss, expense, and acceleration claims.
Provide fast, accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates for enquiries.
Coordinate with the client, main contractor, and other departments.
Measure site progress weekly, including productivity and physical quantum measures.
Control sub‑contractor accounts financially and contractually.
Provide accurate, reliable turnover and cash‑flow forecasts for each project.
Conduct ongoing full reviews of the project cost plan to ensure target contributions and margins are achieved.
Offer advice and mentoring to the QS team, especially graduates or scholarship programme personnel.
Identify, analyse, and report on project trends.
Manage and forecast the cash flow of your package.
Improve and implement best practice commercial processes.
Perform all other duties associated with the role.
Essential Criteria For The Role
Academic (degree) qualification and/or relevant industry experience.
3–4 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying role post‑qualification.
Wide understanding of work contracts.
Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical work packages.
Strong numeracy skills.
Professional negotiating skills with clients.
Proficiency in Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
