About the Role We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team. This role suits a confident, proactive engineer who thrives on leading structural design, delivering high-quality projects, and mentoring junior team members. You will play a key role in the successful delivery of a wide variety of challenging and high-profile projects across multiple sectors, while helping to maintain and elevate the technical excellence of the practice.
Responsibilities
Lead the structural engineering design and delivery of projects across a range of sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Residential, Educational, Healthcare, Civic Buildings, and Data Centres.
Take technical ownership and lead structural design from concept through to construction stages (planning, detailed design, tender, and site delivery).
Design and verify structures in accordance with Eurocodes using steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
Prepare, check, and approve structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Use and oversee the use of structural analysis software including Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, TEDDS, and similar packages.
Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary design teams (Architects, Civil, MEP, Fire, etc.) to deliver integrated and buildable solutions.
Lead the development and review of BIM/Revit structural models and associated documentation.
Attend and represent the practice in client, stakeholder, and design team meetings.
Undertake site inspections, monitor construction progress, and provide technical support on site as required under BCAR 2014.
Review contractor submissions, temporary works designs, method statements, and value engineering proposals.
Support and, where appropriate, act as PSDP, Assigned Certifier, or Ancillary Certifier.
Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers, contributing to their technical development and growth.
Contribute to design reviews with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, buildability, cost efficiency, and quality.
Assist with project planning, resourcing, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
Qualifications
Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering consultancy.
Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Level 8 or equivalent).
Required Skills
Strong track record of successfully delivering complex building projects across all design stages.
Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of Eurocodes and Irish Building Regulations.
Proficient in structural design software (Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, TEDDS or equivalents).
Good working knowledge of Revit and BIM processes (experience leading BIM coordination is an advantage).
Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) or actively working towards chartership is highly desirable.
Proven ability to lead technical aspects of projects and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A collaborative mindset with the ability to mentor and develop less experienced engineers.
