Mechanical Design Engineer, Kilkenny

What You Need to Know: Here’s your chance to join a growing team as a Mechanical Design Engineer at intermediate or senior level, depending on your experience. This role is based in Kilkenny with an office-based presence required for the first 6 months after that, hybrid options may be considered. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a mix of projects and really put your mechanical design skills to the test.

Your New Job: In this position, you’ll be involved in designing building mechanical systems, collaborating with clients and engineers, and supporting project delivery from start to finish. You’ll report to a Director and may also help mentor junior team members. The contract is full-time and begins in-office in Kilkenny.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop detailed designs, schematics, and calculations for mechanical building systems

Ensure compliance with current standards and regulations

Coordinate with clients and project teams to clarify requirements and deliver solutions

Prepare budget estimates and assess contractor claims

Maintain documentation to ISO standards

Conduct site inspections and review technical submittals

Participate in technical workshops and continuous improvement initiatives

Lead aspects of project delivery, including technical queries and drawing updates

Support mentoring and knowledge-sharing within the team

What Are We Looking For?

Relevant Level 7 Degree/Diploma in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)

5+ years of experience in a design office environment

Expertise in mechanical system design and knowledge of applicable regulations

Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, magicad, 3D modelling such as IES is a plus)

Strong communication and client-facing skills

Experience working to ISO standards and within multidisciplinary teams

Full clean (or in progress) European Driving Licence

Valid work authorisation for Ireland
