Overview Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician – 2 posts at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline, Fife. Year 1 salary: 70% Band 4 (approx £12.60/hour). Year 2 salary: 75% Band 4.
The role begins September 2026 and is part of NHS Fife’s Pharmacy&Medicines Directorate which serves approximately 380 000 people with a team of over 300 pharmacy staff across sectors.
Responsibilities
Rotate across primary care pharmacy base, GP practices, and local community pharmacy to collect work‑based evidence.
Complete the Diploma in Pharmacy Services (PDA and SVQ) delivered via blended learning with West College Scotland.
Build a portfolio of evidence and gain experience to qualify for the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration.
Training and Qualifications Applicants must meet one of the following qualification routes:
Route A – Standard Entry
National 5 qualifications at Grades A to C (or equivalent) in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics and one additional subject.
Route B – Alternative Entry (Typically Internal Candidates)
National 5 at Grades A to C in English and Mathematics.
Completion of an approved Pharmacy Services SQA course evidencing learning at SCQF Level 7.
English language: IELTS score of 7 if English is not first language.
Modern Apprenticeship eligibility defined by Skills Development Scotland.
Benefits and Working Conditions
Salary (pro rata for part‑time) with hourly rate adjustment to compensate for the reduced 36‑hour week.
First‑time trainees receive a salary of 70% Band 4, progressing to 75% after Year 2.
