Information Technology Infrastructure Engineer, Limerick

Reporting to: IT Infrastructure Team Lead

About the Role We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team, supporting a hybrid IT environment across project sites and central systems.

This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of both on‑premise and cloud‑based infrastructure. You will work across a mix of physical infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, and network connectivity to support business operations across geographically distributed locations.

Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Deployment&Support

Install, configure, and maintain on-site IT infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers

Set up and manage site IT environments, including connectivity, wireless networks, and end-user equipment

Support commissioning of IT infrastructure for new project sites

Deploy and manage Azure resources (Virtual Machines, networking, storage)

Support and troubleshoot hybrid environments connecting on-premise infrastructure to Azure

Manage and maintain Azure VPN connectivity for secure remote access

Monitor and optimise performance of cloud infrastructure

Networking&Connectivity

Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues across multiple locations

Ensure resilient, secure connectivity between project sites and central systems

Work with ISPs and third‑party providers to maintain network uptime

Support, Maintenance&Monitoring

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and infrastructure issues

Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of IT systems

Monitor system performance, availability, and security across environments

Security&Compliance

Implement and maintain security best practices across infrastructure

Collaborate with internal security teams to meet compliance requirements

Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes

Asset&Documentation Management

Track IT assets and maintain accurate inventory

Produce and maintain technical documentation for systems and solutions

Contribute to reporting on system health, usage, and incidents

Collaboration&User Support

Work closely with internal IT teams, project managers, and site personnel

Provide hands‑on support and guidance to end users when required

Engage with vendors and support providers to resolve issues efficiently

Required Skills&Experience Technical Skills

Proven experience working with Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, storage)

Experience in hybrid environments (on‑prem + cloud connectivity)

Solid networking knowledge (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs)

Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and connectivity issues

Experience with Azure networking (VPN / ExpressRoute)

Exposure to automation or scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Azure tools)

Understanding of infrastructure security best practices
