An exciting opportunity has arisen within Jungheinrich Ireland for you to join our logistics team as a Design Engineer .
The Role Operating out of Maynooth, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and implementation of automated warehouse systems and material handling solutions, working closely with senior engineers, project managers, sales teams, and installation teams to deliver efficient and innovative solutions for customers across Ireland.
Reporting to the Systems Manager, specific responsibilities include:
Design&Engineering
Assist in the design of automation and warehouse equipment layouts using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD).
Prepare technical drawings, GA layouts, fabrication drawings, and assembly details.
Support the design of conveyor systems, racking interfaces, guarding, mezzanines, and warehouse flow solutions.
Produce engineering calculations, load assessments, and design validations.
Modify existing designs based on customer requirements or site conditions.
Project Support
Assist with project delivery from concept through installation and commissioning.
Attend customer sites for surveys, measurements, and technical assessments.
Support procurement by preparing BOMs (Bills of Materials) and component specifications.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors regarding technical queries.
Support installation teams with technical documentation and issue resolution.
Compliance&Quality
Ensure designs comply with Irish and EU safety standards, machinery directives, CE requirements, and internal engineering standards.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate engineering records and document control procedures.
The Person You will work in collaboration with senior engineers, project managers, sales teams and installation teams to deliver efficient and innovative solutions for customers across Ireland.
Candidates must have:
1 to 3 years' engineering experience (or a strong graduate candidate with placement experience).
Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Strong technical drawing and design interpretation skills.
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar discipline.
Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel within Ireland.
Fully computer literate with Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, etc.
Desirable
Experience in conveyor systems, warehouse equipment, racking, or industrial automation.
Familiarity with PLC systems, sensors, motors, or controls.
Knowledge of CE marking / machinery safety regulations.
Project engineering or installation support experience.
