EHS International is placing an experienced Safety Advisor with an established Irish construction contractor on an ongoing project basis. This is a full-time, site-based role for a specialist who knows the construction environment — not a generalist looking for a first construction posting.
An active construction project requires a dedicated, competent Safety Advisor to manage all on-site health and safety activity. The client is an established Irish contractor with a track record of ongoing project delivery. You will be the single point of EHS accountability on site, working closely with site management and the principal contractor hierarchy.
This is a contractor placement role, arranged through EHS International. The engagement is ongoing — not a short-term cover position.
Job Description
• Act as the primary EHS representative on a live construction site
• Develop, maintain, and enforce the site's Safety Management Plan
• Conduct daily site inspections and document findings with corrective actions
• Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
• Manage and audit permit-to-work systems including working at height, confined space, and hot works
• Investigate incidents and near-misses — root cause analysis and reporting
• Liaise with the HSA in the event of any notifiable incident or inspection
• Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks to site operatives and subcontractors
• Monitor subcontractor EHS compliance and audit their documentation
• Maintain site safety records in line with Construction Regulations 2013 requirements
WHAT YOU BRING
• Minimum 5 years of dedicated EHS experience, with substantial construction sector exposure
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) — Diploma level preferred
• Current Safe Pass card (mandatory)
• Familiarity with the Irish Construction Regulations 2013 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
• Proven ability to manage RAMS, site safety plans, and permit-to-work systems independently
• Experience engaging with subcontractors and enforcing compliance without escalation
• Full, clean driving licence and own transport
Benefical
• Experience in a PSDP or PSCS advisory capacity
• Working at Height, Confined Space, or Lifting Operations qualification
• Manual handling instructor qualification
• Previous role as sole-charge safety advisor on a live construction project
