Field Safety Officer General Responsibilities Project Execution

Create and build good working relationship with Client&DPS Team

Ensure that contractors comply with project EHS Plan and meet or exceed Arcadis DPS EHS Minimum Performance Standards.

Ensure all legislative requirements are met and that all Arcadis DPS EHS policies and procedures are adequately implemented and enforced.

Provide coaching/mentoring to any/all contractors/vendors and their management, as necessary, to ensure a safe and environmentally compliant project is maintained at all times.

Provide EHS support to all functional areas and PIT's as and when required.

Injury Free Workplace (IFW)

Assume a leadership role through coaching/mentoring/teaching, leading by example and developing new ideas/programs to further the Injury Free Culture.

Be proactive and intervene when necessary to bring about improvements, change of mindset, direction or methods of work.

Training

Develop and deliver EHS training material as required by project need to ensure all trade/vendors and management personnel are adequately aware of all safety requirements and performance expectations.

Maintain training matrix and monitor compliance.

Attend professional development events and stay current with best practice and latest software technology.

Meetings

Must attend all project critical meetings that may be necessary to ensure adequate communication and information transfer is occurring

Typical meetings that may be required include:

White boards

Weekly Construction Safety Meetings (SLTs, EHS PIT meeting)

Random attendance at contractor’s tool-box meetings/all hands, etc.

EHS Indicators

Ensure both leading and lagging performance indicators are in place, tracked and used to effectively manage performance trends.

Capable of evaluating current performance indicators and implementing corrective actions, as necessary, to ensure project performance improvements.

Develop daily SMBWA schedule, collate results and drive issues to closure.

Education&Experience

Minimum NFQ Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline (Environmental Science, Sustainability, Chemical Engineering, EHS, Sciences).

Level 8 qualification preferred.

Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in a related field is an advantage.

Preferred Requirements

3+ years’ relevant experience beneficial.

Ability to work independently with minimal direction; strong self‑motivation.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.

Knowledge of relevant EHS programmes and regulatory frameworks.

High tolerance for ambiguity and change in a dynamic environment.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities.

Excellent attention to detail.
