Job Description

Escalate any serious problems as they arise to the Workshop Manager so that they may be addressed immediately.

Communicate daily/weekly schedules, deadlines and priorities to staff, via daily briefings or toolbox talks.

Ensure best practice continually updated improved in terms of health and safety, environment, quality, and efficiency.

This will mean that supervisors will need to be proactive in motivating staff to work with managers and supervisors to continually identify better methods of operation and,

These methods will need to updated in the form of SOP’s, daily tasks, forms and training.

Manage staff, review performance regularly and take appropriate action when performance exceeds or fails to meet standards, polices, procedures or legislation. This will include but is not limited to,

Probation reviews

Formal appraisals

Staff disciplinaries and investigations

Informal feedback to staff on the floor

Ensure all staff records are documented and sent to HR in a timely manner

Training records

Appraisals and disciplinaries

Closely monitor the accuracy of‘Standard Times’ and make changes when necessary.

Respond to internal and external customer queries promptly.

Ensure the proper maintenance, and recording of same, of all plant and equipment in accordance with the health and safety legislation and internal standards.

Ensure the company in maintaining its ISO accreditation and support the safety reps in the VPC.

Establish and maintain service and housekeeping routines and recording for all workshop plant and equipment.

Ensure compliance with safe working/operating practices, policies and procedures and all legislation governing the safe operation of the facility.

Engage with and manage subcontractors in a timely manner and all work is QC as per standards agreed.

QC checks to completed and documented as required.

Quality standards are to be monitored and updated when and where necessary.

Utilize and maintain all operational excellence tools as required.

5S standards.

Daily checks.

SOP’s.

Etc.

Proactively develop, support and train staff, this will include but not be limited to

Statutory and mandatory training

NVD specific policies, procedures and standards

Technical training specific to manufactures, tooling or new technology.

Supporting city and guild apprentices in their journey to skilled craftspeople.

One page manager is monitored and proactively managed through the day (Supervisor KPI screen).

Through the HRIS system review weekly clocking in to ensure WRC compliance.

Production is prioritized based on VPC target dates, while ensuring an efficient flow of production through the workshop.

Ensure that the correct conditions are in place to ensure that production floor staff have the best possible opportunity to deliver their work in a safe, efficient and quality manner

Ensure parts, consumables and equipment are available and serviced.

Ensure required training is carried out to meet normal and seasonal demand.

Ensure that all operational excellence standards are in place

Ensure adherence and compliance to all technical, quality, health and safety and environmental processes and polices.

This will require that supervisor complete periodic audits of these standards as required.
