Description
We are seeking an experienced, energetic and effective Health&Safety Officer. The role involves implementing the highest standards across the site, promoting continuous improvement and best practice, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation, and providing professional advice to site management. Key Responsibilities

Proactively engage, challenge and influence colleagues to deliver H&S compliance to drive continuous improvement in H&S performance. Ensure the site’s risk profile is documented through suitable risk assessments and proactively create and implement action plans to reduce risk, in line with hierarchy of control methodology. Ensure an effective H&S onboarding program for all who enter and work on the site– employees, contractors and visitors. Train and coach staff to ensure everyone can contribute to, lead and manage H&S within their areas of responsibility. Work with management to develop and maintain practical and effective policies and procedures for the site. Conduct regular reviews of policies and procedures to ensure they are practical, fully aligned with business needs and relevant legislation. Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all health and safety legislation and developments that affect the employer’s industry.Increase safety and health awareness among all teams to ensure a focus and priority throughout the business. Collaborate with peers and management in shaping the H&S agenda, fostering a culture of engagement, ownership and continuous improvement, and ensuring a culture of safety first prevails throughout the site. Ensure adequate H&S controls are incorporated into design specifications for equipment upgrades and installation. Ensure all activities have robust and up-to-date risk assessments supported by suitable training where applicable. Assess workplace hazards, consider how risks could be eliminated or reduced, and formulate preventative measures together with management.Conduct regular site inspections to verify implementation of policies and procedures. Organise regular random safety inspection audits of all areas, record and analyse the results, report, and suggest and follow up on improvements. Work with all relevant regulators who audit and inspect sites and activities.Ensure all incidents and near‑misses are reported, investigated, and addressed in a timely manner. Desired Competencies

Excellent communication and negotiation skills and ability to give instruction to site personnel.Ability to deliver training and presentations to groups. Desired Qualifications and Experience

BSc (hons) Occupational H&S/NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years’ H&S experience, including at least 2 years in manufacturing. Excellent report‑writing and numerical skills with proficiency in MS Office. Proficiency in the English language and eligibility to work in Ireland. Experience in all areas of H&S, including maintaining policies, assessing risks, training, audits and inspections, and dealing with incidents and reporting.
