Senior Civil Engineer, Waterford

Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland or equivalent) or Near.

Proven experience in the design and delivery of roads and infrastructure projects

Strong technical knowledge of roads, drainage, watermains, earthworks, and public realm infrastructure

Experience liaising with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, clients, and contractors

Excellent understanding of design principles set out in national / local authority standards and technical guidance documents such as GDSDS, IW CoP, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual, DMRB, and TII Publications etc

Experience managing projects through planning, detailed design, tender, and construction stages

Proficiency in civil engineering design software and preparation of technical reports, drawings, and specifications

Strong project, client, and stakeholder management skills

Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers

Familiarity with Public Works Contracts and contract administration

Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities

Experience carrying out site inspections and responding to construction-stage queries and technical issues

Desired Qualifications&Requirements

Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Candidates should have 6–10 years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years working in Ireland in a consultancy environment.

Working towards Chartered status with Engineers Ireland (or equivalent)

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Client-focused mindset with developing relationship management abilities

Proven ability to mentor junior staff

Strong organisational and time management skills
