The closing date for this vacancy is 18/06/2026, 15:00 Consultant Radiologist Wexford General Hospital for 37 hours per week This is an appointment to the HSE Dublin&South East Region on a Public Only Consultants’ Contract 2023 by the Health Service Executive. The initial commitment for this post will be to Wexford General Hospital for 37 hours per week. This post may be subject to restructuring in the future to facilitate the reorganisation of acute services in line with new clinical models of acute andcommunity services. It is noted that the post must be congruent with the requirements of, and facilitate implementation of national health policy, the HSE’s National Clinical Programmes including commitment to deliver the relevant performance outcomes.Main Duties of the Job

To deliver high quality Radiology at Wexford General Hospital to help reduce growing waiting lists and improve the flow through MAU/IU by improving quality and accessibility to current diagnostic imaging service delivery and facilitate appropriate management. Maintain throughout the Hospitals awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all of the Hospitals' activities.Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the values of the Hospital. Actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities consistent with the position. Promote open communications throughout the Hospital. Cover for fellow Consultants during Holidays, sickness or other approved absences.Participate in the development of services in the hospital, including the assumption of appropriate administrative roles. Liaise with the General Manager, Director of Nursing, Chair of Medical Board, consultant staff and others in all matters pertaining to the efficient management of the hospital services.Perform such other duties appropriate to his/her office as may be assigned to them from time to time. Wexford General Hospital currently has a total of 220 beds and provides a general acute hospital service to the catchment area of Wexford. The acute services are as follows: General Medicine including MAU, General Surgery, Elective Surgery, ICU/HDU, CCU, Emergency Department, Gynaecology Day surgery and Out-patient, Medical&Surgical Day Services, Out-patient service, Pathology services, Radiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Pre-op Assessment, Anaesthetic Services. The Department of Radiology at WGH provides the following services Plain film radiography, fluoroscopy including theatre and dexa scanning CTMRI’s A 24/7 on call service for both x-ray&CT Please see information booklet for further details The appointment is whole-time, permanent and pensionable. The annual salary will be as set out in the Public Only Consultants’ Contract 2023. Medical Consultants Salary Scales from 1st February 2026: The standard working week applying to the post is: 37 hours per week.The annual leave associated with the post is: 30 Working Days per annum.
