Description
The Finance Manager will work closely with the Managing Director, playing a key role in financial management and decision making, ensuring robust governance and financial discipline. The role will partner with commercial, operations, production, supply chain and technical teams, providing financial insight, cost analysis and finance&budgeting support across the business. The role will develop strong relationships with internal and group stakeholders, alongside external partners, such as auditors, clients, banks.
Duties&Responsibilities will include:
Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Produce budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, working closely with operational teams
Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management
Manage and analyse manufacturing costs, including materials, labour, and overheads
Manage adherence to group credit management KPIs including group DSO target
Oversee standard costing, product costing, and margin analysis, working closely with the commercial team
Monitor inventory valuation, stock movements, and provisions
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying cost‑saving opportunities
Manage cash flow forecasting and reporting
Optimise working capital, including inventory, receivables, and payables
Liaise with banks, auditors and external stakeholders as required, including management of the financial audit in compliance with group audit deadlines and regulations
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements, including revenue/HMRC returns and all customs documentation
Maintain strong financial controls and documented processes
Manage, coach, and develop finance team members
Partner with operations, supply chain, production and commercial teams to drive financial performance
Support senior leadership with ad‑hoc analysis and strategic projects
Preferred qualifications and attributes
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Proficient with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Oracle or similar ERP system
Experience of Credit Management Systems (MyDSO Manager, Sidetrade, Creditsafe) would be preferrable
Ideally, experience in a manufacturing or operationally focused business
Proven track record in financial control, management, accounting, budgeting and forecasting
Ability to act as a commercial partner to senior leadership and operational teams
A hands‑on, practical approach with strong attention to detail
Confidence in presentation skills
Strong communication skills and the credibility to influence across functions, sharing financial information effectively to non‑finance stakeholders
